Amomum villosum

Bighead atractylodes rhizome

It is warm in property with sweet taste. It has effects on nourishing qi and strengthening spleen, eliminating dampness, disinhibiting water and preventing miscarriage. It is applicable to threatened abortion due to deficiency of spleen and qi. It can get synergy with tangerine peel, poria, radix codonopsis, and ginger and so on.

It is also widely used in treating threatened abortion due to gravid heat (synergy with scutellaria baicalensis, cape jasmine, radix paeoniae alba, etc.), blood deficiency (synergy with angelica, radix paeoniae alba, radix rehmanniae recens and so on), kidney deficiency (synergy with mistletoe, himalayan teasel root, yam, cornus officinalis, etc.).

Eucommia bark

It gets synergy with teasel root (grind into powder) and jujube flesh for making pills, or teasel root, dodder and donkey-hide gelatin for decocting.

Donkey-hide gelatin

It is neutral in nature with sweet taste. It has effects on stopping bleeding, enriching the blood, nourishing yin, moistening dryness and preventing miscarriage. It is applicable for threatened abortion, uterine bleeding and hematockezia due to blood deficiency or weakness of thoroughfare and conception vessels. It gets synergy with radix rehmanniae recens and mugwort. It also can treat hypermenorrhea and postpartum astriction.

Bamboo shavings

3 cortex moutan

Cortex moutan contains paeonol, paeonolide, volatile oil and phytocholesterol.

Pharmacological experiments prove that the cortex moutan has effect on reducing blood pressure easing pain, tranquilizing and allaying excitement, preventing inflammation and clearing heat. For a variety of pathogenic bacteria, it has strong inhibitory effect.

4 Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle contains chlorogenic acid, inositol and flavonoid.  Pharmacological experiments prove that honeysuckle has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. 5 selfheal

Selfheal contains triterpenoid saponins, aglucon, tartaric acid, essential oil, vitamin, potassium chloride and so on.  Pharmacological experiments prove that whole selfheal has effects on lowering blood pressure. Its decoction has different degrees of inhibitive effects on some common skin fungus, and a variety of pathogenic bacteria.

6 fructus gardeniae

Fructus gardeniae contains a variety of bitter glucoside, also mannitol and malol. It has functions of benefiting gallbladderor, increasing biliation, lowering the temperature, tranquilizing and allaying excitement, easing pain and preventing convulsion. For a variety of pathogenic bacteria and a variety of skin pathogenic fungi, it has inhibitory effect.

Chinese medicine believes that it is cold in property with bitter taste. It has function of purging intense heat, relieving restlessness, clearing heat and removing dampness, cooling blood and resolving toxin. It is suitable for calenture, dysphoria, egersis, aurigo, bloodshot eyes, epistaxis, toxic heat and toxin sores and other disorders.

Dosage: 9 – 3 grams
